Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
We are pleased to announce Bishop Robert Hoshibata intends to appoint Pastor George Barcus to serve as the pastor of Needles Community United Methodist Fellowship, Needles, California, as of July 1, 2013. Through a process of prayerful discernment, the Bishop and Cabinet selected Pastor Barcus to serve in this capacity, along with pastoral oversight for the United Methodist congregations in Parker,
Arizona, and Blythe, California. We believe that Pastor Barcus has the gifts and skills needed to serve these three churches at this time. He is looking forward to serving with you, developing your lay leaders to take an active role in the leadership of the church, and equipping and deploying persons in ministry.
Pastor Barcus is currently serving as the pastor of Fannin and Telferner UMC in Victoria, Texas. He is well respected for his visioning and gathering people together around common goals, his involvement in community leadership, his ability to empower others to live into their calling and giftedness, his love of children and youth, and his passion for discipleship and leading people to Christ. Pastor Barcus previously served Freer United Methodist Church in Freer, Texas and as Director of
Youth and Children’s Ministry in Kingsville, Texas. He is looking forward to serving with you and helping move the fellowship forward into its future.
Pastor Barcus will continue his service at Fannin and Telferner UMC through June 2013, and will begin as your pastor in July.
We are excited about the gifts Pastor Barcus will bring to Needles Community United Methodist Fellowship, and about the work we can do together to further God’s kingdom in the Needles area, and in our world.
